He was really trying to protect Angel. In his heart, Angel was probably as innocent as an angel and as pure as snow. If she did something inappropriate, it must be because someone else made the first move. 
The partiality of parents could be so shocking. 
“Seeing you believe Liam’s wrong, why don’t you bring Angel to our house to confront Liam, and see if I’m lying or framing her?” 
Shawn was speechless. 
He glanced at Angel, who looked upset, and suddenly had doubts about her words. 
Taking a deep breath, he whispered, “I’ll find out the truth.” 
“Wait,” Celeste called out him and went straight to the point, “Dad, when are you planning to donate to the orphanage?” 
Shawn hesitated and spoke softly. “The company’s revenue has declined this year, and we can no longer support the orphanage. I’ve already contacted the city government to see if they can provide subsidies.” 
Celeste’s face darkened, “Dad, the money for the drphanage came from the assets under mom’s name. Even if the company’s revenue declines, it shouldn’t affect that. If you’re not good at managing, why not hire a lawyer to transfer mom’s shares to me, and let me handle the expenses?” Hearing this, Shawn’s face turned pale, “Your mother’s medical expenses cost tens of thousands a month, nearly a million a year. Do you think our family has a gold mine like the Reed family? I’m doing everything I can now to pay for her medical expenses. Where would I have the extra money to support the orphanage?” 
Celeste sneered, but he didn’t mention the share transfer. If he really couldn’t afford it, he should have thrown this difficult matter to her right away! The only reason he didn’t give it was because he saw profit. 
Caitlyn went through a lot of trouble to get Shawn’s evidence, making him sign that agreement that left him with almost nothing: How could she watch the Campbell family’s belongings be taken away by a private child? 
He was not willing to give it to her, right? Then she would take it herself! 
Seeing Celeste not speaking, Shawn said, “Celeste, your mother’s health is the most important thing. We’re barely managing ourselves. How can we have the energy to worry about the orphanage’s survival? That’s something for the government, not us. I know you and your mom used to volunteer there often and have deep feelings for the place, but we need to consider our own abilities.” 
But why didn’t he mention this as a government responsibility when donating to the orphanage to get corporate tax exemptions?

Leaving from the rooftop, Liam has already packed up at the entrance and is ready to leave. 
“Are you going out? Celeste asked him.
