Chapter 58 A Forced Blind Date
“Grandma said that Aunt Sylvia insisted on marrying in Caltun back then. If Aunt Sylvia had listened to her and married in Vroria, you wouldn’t have to suffer like this with the support of the Marshall family,” Melissa said.
Freya chuckled. “But then I wouldn’t exist now, would I?”
As the two chatted for a while, Freya’s office door was knocked open.
Connor was standing outside the door. “Miss Kaufmann, the implementation team has come up with at new plan for the construction of those ancestral halls. Mr. Monaghan is inviting you to join them for the proposal presentation.”
Freya stood up. Tll be right there.”
Before leaving, she turned to Melissa and instructed her, “Stay in the office and don’t wander around, understand?”
Melissa nodded eagerly. However, Freya still felt uneasy and asked, “Connor, can you please watch her for me?”
Connor acknowledged with a response.
As soon as Freya left, Melissa’s gaze shifted to Connor.
“Are you Radley’s assistant?” she asked.
Connor nodded. “Yes, Miss Marshall.”
As the little tyrant in Vroria, her biggest fears in life were her father and Freya. Since Freya wasn’t around. now, she wasn’t afraid of anyone. With that, she stood up and circled Connor.
“So, do you know a lot about Radley and Freya? Tell me!”
Connor’s expression turned serious. “Miss Marshall, that’s considered the personal privacy of Mr. Monaghan and Miss Kaufmann.”
Meanwhile, Freya had already arrived at the meeting room, and the implementation team composed of the Monaghan Group and the Kaufmann Group stood up as soon as they saw her.
Then, she sat next to Radley and greeted, “Mr. Monaghan.”-
Radley looked over with his deep and mysterious gaze.
Freya frowned slightly as she sensed something odd about his gaze today.
The implementation team presented their proposal to Freya, who listened attentively.
At the end of the day, it was still necessary for the Joint Department to make concessions. Knowing that relocation was inevitable, the families involved were aware that the ancestral hall had to be moved.
“They’re demanding two billion in compensation?” Freya’s face turned cold. “And we have to build them a new ancestral hall in the designated area?”
The designated area was quite unreasonable, as it was a valuable piece of land in a scenic spot in Caltun.
After that, she asked coldly, “Is this the plan you all discussed and agreed upon?”
“Miss Kaufmann, there’s no other way. If these families refuse to move, we won’t be able to proceed with the construction, and the cost of delaying the project for even one day will result in significant financial
costs.
Freya looked over the document and said, “We can only agree to one of these two conditions. You’ll have to figure out the rest.”
Then, she looked at everyone and continued. “If anyone can solve this matter. I’ll give them a bonus of one million.”
With the promise of a hefty reward, the implementation team, who had been looking gloomy, suddenly became more energized.
Radley added, “Force methods are not acceptable.”
After a few more discussions, everyone left, and Freya got up to leave.
“Mr. Monaghan, I’ll go back first.”
“Call me Radley.” Radley raised his head to look at Freya. “We’re old acquaintances. There’s ne so formal.”
Freya frowned slightly as she did not understand what he was thinking. “It’s better to stay formal d work.”
After saying that, she asked, “How is Madan Daniella now? Did you watch the surveillance footage as I asked you to?
Radley’s face turned cold, and he nodded. “We’ve already changed the caregiver.”
She finally felt relieved. “I’ll visit her this weekend. I’m leaving now.”
The two of them left the meeting room one after the other.
As they approached the office door, they saw Connor standing there looking distressed while Melissa was tugging at his clothes and asking him questions.
“And then? What happened after Freya and Radley got divorced?”
Seeing Radley, Connor walked up to him quickly as if he had just seen a savior. “Mr. Monaghan!”
Freya stopped Melissa and called out to her, “Melissa, come here!”
Connor watched in astonishment, feeling amazed at how quickly Melissa had gone from being hostile to being meek and obedient. He clicked his tongue in admiration. Miss Marshall is quite something.
He had planned to keep his mouth shut and not reveal anything no matter how much Melissa tried to persuade him, However, she could always find a new way to extract information from his answers.

Looking at Melissa, Radley saw her looking at him with disdainful eyes. When Melissa saw him looking at her, she snorted and turned her head away.
“You have a lovely cousin,” he said as he turned and headed back to his office. “Connor, come in.”
Connor wore a pained expression as he followed Radley into his office.
By the time it was time to leave in the afternoon, Freya and Melissa left the Joint Department.
Freya drove toward the hospital, and Melissa sat in the passenger seat with a lollipop in her mouth.
“I visited Brax earlier and noticed that there seems to be a special connection between him and Miss Parker who is taking care of him. Are they dating?”
Freya’s lips curled up. “Not yet.”
They arrived at the hospital and went to Braxton’s ward. To their surprise, Matthew was also there. When he saw Freya, he came over and warmly greeted her, “Kittie, glad to see you!”
Melissa happily called out, “Matthew!”
After spending some time in the hospital room, Freya noticed that Isabella was not there, so she asked Braxton. “Where is Izzy?”
However, Braxton looked embarrassed. “She has something to deal with at home and can’t make it today.”
“What happened?” Freya asked.
Braxton refused to say anything.
Seeing that, Freya narrowed her eyes and turned to look at Matthew.
Matthew shrugged. “Don’t look at me. I don’t know either. Miss Parker slammed the door and left when I arrived.”
Did they fight?
Freya had a hunch.
As they left the hospital, Matthew volunteered to stay overnight to take care of Braxton.
After dropping Melissa off at her house, Freya sat in the car and called Isabella.
“Izzy, what are you up to?” Freya asked tentatively.
Isabella’s voice sounded hoarse as she replied, “I was just about to go to bed.”
“It’s not even nine yet. Since when did you start having such a good routine?” Freya chuckled softly. “What’s wrong? Did my brother bully you? I heard from Matthew that you slammed the door when you left.”
There was a gritting sound on the other end of the phone, and Isabella’s voice came through. “Your brother is heartless!”
Freya’s heart skipped a beat. “What happened? Tell me.”
“My dad set me up on a blind date, and Braxton asked me to go!” Isabella was clearly furious.
Freya furrowed her brows in concern.
She had been visiting her brother every night recently. Therefore, she had a better idea of the relationship between Braxton and Isabella.
Freya knew her brother’s personality very well. Although Braxton appeared carefree on the surface, he was a possessive man in reality.
It was obvious that he had feelings for Isabella, so why would he allow her to go on blind dates?
Freya frowned. “Are you really going on a blind date tomorrow?”
“What can I do if I don’t go? Do you know how many blind dates my family has arranged for me in the past two years? My father even threatened to break my legs if I dare to run away again!” Isabella’s angry voice became gloomy.
“If my legs are broken, I won’t be able to help you take care of your brother,” she added.

Freya’s face broke into a smile. “What’s your plan now?”
“I didn’t have a plan before, but now I do.” Isabella’s voice sounded mischievous. “I’ll take care of your brother tomorrow, and you’ll help me go on a blind date. What do you think about it?”
“It’s not a good plan at all!” Freya’s lips twitched.
She had always thought that the relationship between Braxton and Isabella was very close.
There was only a small obstacle keeping them from being more than friends.
However, it seemed not to be the case.
After being bombarded with one argument after another by Isabella, Freya was eventually forced to agree.
However, she was even more curious now. Why did her brother push away the woman he liked?
